Meghamalai

Also called as High wavy mountains or the cloud mountains as it is always. We can anytime see clouds connecting the mountains and it is always cool and misty mountain range and is a last part of  Western Ghats in Theni district, Tamil Nadu.

The roads were bad, however the scenic beauty of the valleys made us feel out of the world. We took the permission from the Jungle inspector far from our guest house and went for a small trek with a guide. We were unlucky and were not able to see any wild animals. However, the feel of the typical forest was an experience to have.

We sadly started driving back and it started raining heavily on the way.  The bad roads turned worse. slushy roads, with no mobile networks, zero visibility of the roads due to fog. While driving he literally was peeping out the window to move further. It was all pitch dark and we were still not finding our guest house after hours of drive it became a tense situation! However, we finally reached and what a sigh of relief. An experience to remember for life.  We all were virtually driving along with our friend too trying to find visibility of the road and help out by advising. All that we knew was we were about 13 kms away,

One of the yet another beautiful ranges of Western ghats! Also this place marks the border between Tamil Nadu and Kerala states. It is a place of natural beauty with cardamom plantations and tea estates. The place is it is rich in flora and fauna and mostly planted with tea.

Kudos to my friend who drove on such challenging roads with almost zero visibility due to fog & on slushy roads.

This Bungalow wore  deserted look and was looking like a Ghostly one with none around, and seemed like no one has used it since years and it was all locked. This white house, with fog waving all over this place gave a look of a typical ghostly house with the forest background on the hill!

Acres of never ending tea estates looking like a thick green carpet spread over the mountains, lakes, houses, jungles and the forest from where THE JYOTI (light) that is visible during the Sankranti festival that moves starts from here and literally moves away in the sky. A miracle that no one was ever able to explain. It light appears on the same day of every year and we Hindus celebrate Sankranti festival during this time.

The Tea estates:

Breathtaking views of Meghamalai!
